NU 702 Health Information Systems Credit, three hours. This course provides an in-depth evaluation of various health information systems, with emphasis on case studies of systems utilized in areas such as patient-care, clinical decision-support, disease and demographic surveillance, imaging and simulation, and safety and environmental assessment. Fundamentals of proposing, reporting, and refereeing evaluation studies are covered. Utilization of a statistical software and comparison of EHR programs. Legal and ethical issues related to training, security, confidentiality, and the use of informed consent are discussed.
