BIO 457 Marine Behavioral Ecology


Credit, four hours.
The course examines how animal behavior is influenced by and interacts with its environment, and the ecological and evolutionary significance of these behaviors in a marine setting. Students will learn principles of behavioral ecology as they relate to marine animals, become familiar with techniques for observing animal behavior and conducting behavioral experiments, and be introduced to methods for collecting and analyzing behavioral data. The course will consist of lectures, laboratory exercises and experiments, and overnight field trips designed to provide students with the background to pursue additional studies in marine animal behavior.
