NA 701 Ethics and Economics of Nurse Anesthesia Practice


Credit, three hours.
Learners will be exposed to the ethics of advanced nursing practice, including topics such as:  history of nurse anesthesia, legislative/regulatory requirements, supervision, documentation,substance use disorder, ethical decision making, etc. Additionally, the economics of the practice are introduced in order to orient nurse anesthesia students to their value within the health care system and focus on fiscal responsibility, billing, and contract negotiation.
1. Introduce the practice of nurse anesthesia as a viable, efficient, and economical component of the health care system.
2. Discuss the nurse practice act and the practice of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists within various model.
3. Review the ethics of proper decision-making.
4. Discuss the signs, symptoms, and risk factors of substance use disorder.
5. Design a proposal that to staff a healthcare system with CRNAs. Corequisite(s):   ,
