CH 211 Foundations of Chemistry


Chemical principles for science majors. Atomic and molecular structure, periodic table, molecules (moles, nonmenclature), types of chemical reactions, stoichemistry, gases, thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, chemical solutions, oxidation/reduction reactions, basic equilibrium. Laboratory exercises will provide experiential learning to reinforce topics taught in CH 211. Under normal circumstances CH 211 must precede  . Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory. Corequisite(s): CH 211 Lab;   or high school algebra. Credit, five hours.
