Master of Business Administration, M.B.A.


The M.B.A. program consists of 30 semester hours of graduate courses.  Students may not enroll in a particular graduate course until they meet the foundation requirements for that particular graduate course.  Foundation requirements ensure that students have acquired a common body of knowledge in business administration.  The foundation areas are accounting, economics, finance, principles of management, principles of marketing, and statistics.  Alternative ways of demonstrating knowledge in the foundation areas are listed below.

Business Foundation Requirements for the M.B.A.


The prospective M.B.A. student may elect to meet the foundation requirements in one of the following ways or in a combination of the elements thereof:

  1. Completion of these courses with a grade of “C” or better at University of Mobile or equivalent courses at other regionally accredited institutions:  principles of accounting I and II, principles of macroeconomics, principles of microeconomics, principles of finance, principles of management, principles of marketing, and statistics.
  2. Scores of 80% or higher in the following interactive, self-paced courses* offered through IVY Software online:

Business Math and Statistics

Financial Accounting

Fundamentals of Economics

Managerial Accounting

Principles of Management

Principles of Marketing

Understanding Corporate Finance

*Course can be waived if student scores satisfactorily on assessment test in a foundation area.

 

 

Note:


Students in the University of Mobile’s integrated accounting program (see undergraduate section of this catalog) must take AC 547  as an additional course.

For successful completion of M.B.A. degree requirements, students must earn a “B” or higher in BA 554 .  Credit for BA 554 may not be transferred from another institution.

Hours to Degree


30 hours are needed to graduate with the Master of Business Administration degree.
