Fall Academic Period 2023
Monday, August 14-Thursday, December 7

Late Registration/Academic Advisement for Fall Academic Period 2023: August 7 - 10.
Fall Academic Period Ends with Final Grades to Registrar: December 11.

Fall Academic Period Notes:

1. Institutional Workshop:  August 7-10.
2. Holidays: Labor Day (September 4); Thanksgiving (November 20-24); University closed (November 22-24); Christmas (December 15, 18-22, & 25-29); New Year’s Day (January 1).
3. Fall Break (Classes not in session for -Term I):  October 4-6.
4. Registration for Spring academic period begins:  October 30.
5. ACT Residual TBA.
6. Evening students should consult the class schedule for class dates.
7. Evening students should consult the registrar’s office and business office concerning drop/add dates and withdrawal from classes.
8. Final exams for Term I only (December 4-7).

Days the University offices are closed: September 4, November 22-24, December 15; 18-22, 25-29, 2023; & January 1, 2024 .

Added and/or Dropped Courses and Withdrawal from the University

Term I

• Courses dropped after August 25 will receive no refund of tuition. Courses added after August 25 may incur additional tuition and fees. See Business Office.
• Evening courses dropped after the 3rd class meeting will receive no refund of tuition.
• Day courses may be added with special permission before August 24 and evening courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting.
• Day courses may be added or changed to audit without permission before August 18 and evening courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Day courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty by October 31 and evening courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before the 10th class meeting.

Terms II & III

• Courses dropped after the eighth day of the term no refund of tuition. 
• Courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before the 5th class meeting.

A withdrawal is processed when a student ceases attendance before the end of the academic period.

2023 Fall Academic Period Examination Schedule
December 4 - 7, 2023
Term I

Evening classes will give final examinations on the class night during exam week (December 4-7). 

Online classes will give final examinations during exam week (December 4-7) as scheduled by faculty.                                                                                                                

Faculty should follow the exam schedule UNLESS permission is granted by the Dean and the VPAA.  Students should expect to take exams when they are scheduled. 

If you see that you cannot, you may submit a Change to Examination Schedule Request to the Academic Affairs Office by October 25 for consideration.

   Final Grades due to Registrar’s Office by 2:00 p.m. December 11

Spring Academic Period 2024
Monday, January 8 -Thursday, May 2

Late Registration/Academic Advisement for Spring Academic Period 2024: January 2-4.
Spring Academic Period Ends with Final Grades to Registrar: May 6. 

Spring Academic Period Notes:

1. Holidays: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 15), UM Holiday’s (February 12 & 13) and Good Friday holiday (March 29).
2. Last day to apply for Spring Graduation: February 3.
3. Spring Break (March 4-8) (All Students).
4. ACT Residual TBA.
5. Registration for Summer & Fall 2024 academic period begins: March 25.
6. Graduation:  May 4
7. Evening students should consult the class schedule for class dates.
8. Evening students should consult the registrar’s office and business office concerning drop/add dates and withdrawal from classes.
9. Final Exams: April 29-30 & May 1-2 for Term I only.

Days the University offices are closed: January 15, February 12 & 13, and March 29, 2024.

Terms II and III

 Summer Term I (4 weeks)

• Courses dropped after May 8 will receive no refund of tuition.
• Courses may be added by May 10 without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit by May 10.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before May 18.

Summer Term II (4 weeks)

• Courses dropped after June 5 will receive no refund of tuition.
• Courses may be added by June 7 without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit by June 7.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before June 15.

Summer Term III (4 weeks)

• Courses dropped after July 3 will receive no refund of tuition.
• Courses may be added by July 5 without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit by July 5.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before July 13.

Summer Term IV (8 weeks)

• Courses dropped by the 8th calendar day will receive no tuition/fee refund.
• Courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before July 5.

Summer Term V (Full Term)

• Courses dropped after May 17 will receive no tuition refund.
• Courses may be added by May 10 without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit by May 10.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before June 29.

Summer Term VI (6 weeks)

• Courses dropped after the 2nd class meeting will receive no tuition refund.
• Courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before May 31.

Summer Term VII (6 weeks)

• Courses dropped after the 2nd class meeting will receive no tuition refund.
• Courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before July 13.
