SA 342 Medical Sociology


Credit, three hours.
This course introduces the major conceptual frameworks of medical sociology and the analytical tools used to examine the context of health, illness, and well-being. Students will focus on understanding the sociological perspectives of health and illness, including the medicalization of Western society, the distribution of health and illness by social and demographic factors, issues related to an aging society, and the health care system.
