Course Requirements

A minor in piano consists of eighteen semester hours, including:

• MU 101 Theory I
• MU 101L Theory Laboratory I
• MU 102 Theory I
• MU 102L Theory Laboratory I

• Choose 1 of the following courses in piano: 

  • MU 424  Piano Pedagogy
  • MU 433  Piano Literature I
  • MU 434  Piano Literature II

Applied Music Requirements

Primary Applied Area (8 semester hours)

•  MUA 142  Applied Piano (4 consecutive semesters)

Ensemble Participation

ASOTA scholarships also require participation every semester a student is receiving scholarship dollars beyond primary and secondary standard ensemble requirements.

Hours to Minor

18 hours are needed to graduate with a Piano Minor.
