History Required Courses for M.A. (9 Hours)

Students must complete the following courses:

• HI 601 Seminar in Early American History
• HI 602 Seminar in Modern American History
• HI 603 Seminar in Mobile and Gulf Coast History

History Electives for M.A. (9 Hours)

Students must complete 9 elective hours from the following courses:

• HI 505 Civil War and Reconstruction
• HI 507 Jacksonian America
• HI 508 Slavery and Abolition in the United States
• HI 509 The Civil Rights Movement
• HI 525 World War II
• TS 532 Patristic Theology
• TS 533 Reformation Theology
• TS 535 Historical Theology I

Education Courses (15 Hours)

The following courses are required with the option to choose between TE 504 or TE 509, for a total of 15 Semester Hours.

• TE 504 : Introduction to Exceptional Children OR TE 509 : Strategies for the Inclusive Classroom (Students who have completed an Introduction to Exceptional Children and Youth course in a prior certification program may take Strategies for the Inclusive Classroom to meet this requirement) (3 hours).

• TE 525 Curriculum and Teaching in the Elementary School
• EE 540 Classroom Management
• TE 548 Methods of Teaching Social Studies
• TE 597 Evaluation of Teaching and Learning

Hours for Degree

33 hours are needed to graduate with a M.A. in History with a Concentration in Education degree.
