The purpose of the Department of Computer Information Systems is to prepare students to professionally and competently utilize information technology solutions and business processes to meet the information and technology needs of businesses and other organizations. Majors will become skilled in 1) programming, 2) information management, 3) database management, 4) systems analysis, and 5) other current aspects of computer information technology.
The Cybersecurity major is designed to give you strong critical thinking and practical cybersecurity skills to help keep individuals and companies safe in the digital world. Due to the nature of most jobs within this space, our cybersecurity program has significantly less programming and quantitative coursework than you might expect.
Note: Some majors, minors, or concentrations are offered online through a consortium of accredited colleges and universities. Instruction is provided by faculty employed by partner institutions within the consortium, with technology and administrative support provided by Rize Education.
Oversight of courses offered through the consortium are reviewed and approved by the University of Mobile and its accreditor. Students register through the University of Mobile and receive academic credit from the University of Mobile.
