WL 201 Survey of Technology and Media


Credit, three hours.
This course provides a broad introduction to the essential technologies used in modern worship, performance, and educational environments. Through hands-on learning and guided instruction, students will gain a working knowledge of audio systems, visual media tools (such as ProPresenter), basic lighting design, video production, and stage technologies. Emphasis is placed on understanding the practical application of technology in churches, schools, concert venues, and recording settings. Students will learn industry vocabulary, practice basic troubleshooting skills, and examine how technology enhances communication, creativity, and engagement across diverse performance and worship contexts. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to collaborate with technical teams, operate fundamental media systems, and make informed decisions about technology integration in their future careers.
