The University

The University of Mobile is a Christ-centered liberal arts and sciences institution with a vision of higher education for a higher purpose, founded to honor God by equipping students for their future professions through rigorous academic preparation and spiritual transformation. Core values are:  Christ-Centered, Academically-Focused, Student-Devoted, Distinctively-Driven.  The University of Mobile is affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention and is located on over 880 wooded acres approximately 10 miles north of Mobile, Alabama.

Accreditation

    

The University of Mobile is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. The University of Mobile also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.  Questions about the accreditation of the University of Mobile may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling 404-679-4500 or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).

Inquiries about the University, such as admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, etc., should be addressed directly to the University and not to the Commission’s office. The Commission is to be contacted only if there is evidence that appears to support a University’s significant non-compliance with a requirement or standard.

The University holds membership with and is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (11250 Roger Bacon Drive, Suite 21, Reston, VA 20190-5248, 703-437-0700). The University, through its Grace Pilot School of Business, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs to offer the following business degrees: Bachelor of Science Degree with majors in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Healthcare Management, Integrated Marketing Communications, Management, Digital Media & Advertising, and Software Development; Business Administration with a concentration in Management (for post-traditional students); and the Master of Business Administration Degree. The Master of Science in Leadership and Communication is not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. Visit the website for more information: http://www.acbsp.org. The teacher education programs at the University of Mobile are approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. The baccalaureate, master, and doctoral degree programs in nursing, as well as the post-graduate APRN certificate program at University of Mobile are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791. The associate degree in nursing at the University of Mobile is conditionally eligible to participate in the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) candidacy process. This process is the prerequisite step toward formal review for ACEN initial accreditation. Effective April 26, 2023, this nursing program is a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This candidacy status expires on April 26, 2025. The University is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (222 S. Prospect Avenue Park Ridge, Ill. 60068-4001, 847-655-1160) to offer the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Program. The University of Mobile’s Master of Athletic Training Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), 2001 K Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20006. The program will have its next comprehensive review during the 2027-2028 academic year.
