The University of Mobile is a Christ-centered liberal arts and sciences institution with a vision of higher education for a higher purpose, founded to honor God by equipping students for their future professions through rigorous academic preparation and spiritual transformation. The University of Mobile is affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention and is located on over 880 wooded acres approximately 10 miles north of Mobile, Alabama.
The University of Mobile is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Inquiries about the University, such as admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, etc., should be addressed directly to the University and not to the Commission’s office. The Commission is to be contacted only if there is evidence that appears to support a University’s significant non-compliance with a requirement or standard.
The University holds membership with and is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (11250 Roger Bacon Drive, Suite 21, Reston, VA 20190-5248, 703-437-0700). The University, through its School of Business, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs to offer the following business degrees: Bachelor of Science Degree with majors in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Healthcare Management, Integrated Marketing Communications, Management, Digital Media & Advertising, and Software Development; Business Administration with a concentration in Management (for post-traditional students); and the Master of Business Administration Degree. The Master of Science in Leadership and Communication is not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. Visit the website for more information: http://www.acbsp.org. The University of Mobile is currently seeking accreditation for its new Masters of Athletic Training program and is not accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The institution will be submitting a self-study to begin the accreditation process on July 1, 2022. Submission of the self-study and completion of a site visit does not guarantee that the program will become accredited. Students that graduate from the program prior to accreditation WILL NOT be eligible to sit for the credentialing examination for athletic trainers and will not be eligible for licensure in most states. The first class will be accepted in June 2021 with the first graduating class as May 2023. The accreditation site visit is anticipated to occur in Spring 2023. The baccalaureate, master, and doctoral degree programs in nursing, as well as the post-graduate APRN certificate program at University of Mobile are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791. The University is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (222 S. Prospect Avenue Park Ridge, Ill. 60068-4001, 847-655-1160) to offer the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Program. The Alabama State Board of Education approves teacher education programs.
