CH 201 General Chemistry I Credit, four hours. Chemical principles for science majors. Atomic and molecular structure, periodic table, molecules (moles, nonmenclature), types of chemical reactions, stoichemistry, gases, chemical solutions, oxidation/reduction reactions, basic equilibrium. Laboratory exercises will provide experiential learning to reinforce topics taught in CH 201 lecture. Under normal circumstances CH 201 must precede CH 202. Three hours lecture, two hours laboratory. Corequisite(s): MA 112 or high school algebra.
