Fall Academic Period 2020
Monday, August 17-Friday, December 3

Late Registration/Academic Advisement for Fall Academic Period 2020: August 10 - 13.
Fall Academic Period Ends with Final Grades to Registrar: December 7.

Fall Academic Period Notes:

1. Institutional Workshop:  August 10-12.
2. Holidays: Labor Day (September 7); Thanksgiving (November 25-27) All Students will meet November 23 & 24; University closed 25-27); Christmas (December 18, 21-25, & 28-31); New Year’s Day (January 1).
3. No Fall Break (Classes are in session for -Term I October 7-8).
4. Last day to apply for Fall Graduation:  September 11.
5. Registration for Spring academic periods begins:  October 22.
6. ACT Residual TBA.
7. Fall Graduation December 5.
8. Evening students should consult the class schedule for class dates.
9. Evening students should consult the registrar’s office and business office concerning drop/add dates and withdrawal from classes.
10. Final exams may be given the last day of classes. Online only final exams: November 30, December 1-3 for Term I only.

Days the University offices are closed: September 7, November 25-27, December 18; 21-25, & 28-31, 2020, and January 1, 2021.

Added and/or Dropped Courses and Withdrawal from the University

Term I

• Courses dropped after August 28 will receive no refund of tuition. Courses added after August 28 may incur additional tuition and fees. See Business Office.
• Evening courses dropped after the 3rd class meeting will receive no refund of tuition.
• Day courses may be added with special permission before August 27 and evening courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting.
• Day courses may be added or changed to audit without permission before August 21 and evening courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Day courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty by October 27 and evening courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before the 10th class meeting.

Terms II & III

• Courses dropped after the eighth day of the term will incur a drop fee and no refund of tuition. 
• Courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before the 5th class meeting.

A withdrawal is processed when a student ceases attendance before the end of the academic period.

Spring Academic Period 2021
Tuesday, January 19 -Thursday, May 6

Late Registration/Academic Advisement for Spring Academic Period 2021: January 4-7.
Spring Academic Period Ends with Final Grades to Registrar: May 10. 

Spring Academic Period Notes:

1. Holidays: New Year’s Day (January 1), Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 18), UM Holiday’s (February 15 & 16) and Good Friday holiday (April 2).
2. Last day to apply for Spring Graduation: February 12.
3. No Spring Break (March 8 -12).
4. ACT Residual TBA.
5. Registration for Summer & Fall academic period begins: March 25.
6. 53rd Graduation:  May 8
7. Evening students should consult the class schedule for class dates.
8. Evening students should consult the registrar’s office and business office concerning drop/add dates and withdrawal from classes.
9. Final Exams: May 3-6 for Term I only.

Days the University offices are closed: May 31 and July 5, 2021.

Added and/or Dropped Courses and Withdrawal from the University

 Summer Term I (4 weeks)

• Courses dropped after May 12 will receive no refund of tuition.
• Courses may be added by May 12 without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit by May 12.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty by May 21.

Summer Term II (4 weeks)

• Courses dropped after June 9 will receive no refund of tuition.
• Courses may be added by June 9 without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit by June 9.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty by June 18.

Summer Term III (4 weeks)

• Courses dropped after July 7 will receive no refund of tuition.
• Courses may be added by July 7 without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit by July 7.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty by July 17.

Summer Term IV (8 weeks)

• Courses dropped by the 8th calendar day will receive no tuition/fee refund.
• Courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before July 9.

Summer Term V (Full Term)

• Courses dropped by May 28 will receive no tuition refund.
• Courses may be added by May 14 without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit by May 14.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty by July 1.

Summer Term VI (6 weeks)

• Courses dropped after the 2nd class meeting will receive no tuition refund.
• Courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before June 4.

Summer Term VII (6 weeks)

• Courses dropped after the 2nd class meeting will receive no tuition refund.
• Courses may be added before the 2nd class meeting without permission.
• Courses may be changed to audit before the 2nd class meeting.
• Courses may be dropped without the “F” penalty before July 16.
